We are committed to producing the healthiest, most genetically stable and well-defined research mice possible. To ensure the integrity of JAX® Mice for your research, we have established rigorous animal health and genetic testing and monitoring programs.
Animal health program
This program is designed to ensure the health and well-being of our animal colonies, prevent the entry of infectious agents and minimize the opportunity for transmission of infectious agents between cages.
Health status reports
The Jackson Laboratory diagnostic laboratory routinely monitors animal health status using statistically valid sampling procedures and testing protocols. Results are summarized by room in health status reports which accompany all mouse shipments.
Genetic quality program
Given its impact on human health, the data produced from mouse-based biomedical research must be reliable, reproducible, and viable over time and place. To ensure JAX® Mice meet these criteria, our innovative genetic quality control program limits genetic drive and prevents the spread of genetic contamination.
